¡Hola a todos! Hoy vengo a hablaros sobre la paleta Aphrodite de Bad Habit, un dupe de la paleta Rose Gold de Huda Beauty, la cual fue, sin lugar a dudas, una de las paletas más famosas de 2016-2017. Cuando la vi en persona, quedé bastante decepcionada porque es una paleta muy cara (en España cuesta 64,95€) y no creo que las sombras estén a la altura. Y como la marca tampoco es cruelty-free, al menos por ahora (he oído que están en proceso de obtener la certificación), no compraré ninguno de sus productos de todos modos.
Hi guys! Today I will be talking about the Aphrodite palette by Bad Habit, a dupe for Huda Beauty‘s Rose Gold palette, which was by far one of the most famous palettes of 2016-2017. When I saw it in person, I was pretty disappointed because it’s a very expensive palette (around 60 bucks) and I don’t think that the shadows are that good. And since they’re not cruelty-free, at least for now, I’m not buying any of their stuff anyways.

La paleta tiene 8 sombras shimmer y 10 mates. Me encanta la variedad de colores porque me encantan los tonos cálidos, especialmente los naranjas y borgoñas, pero eso es algo que no deberíamos atribuir a Bad Habit, sino a Huda Beauty. Fue su equipo quién llegó a la idea en primer lugar, y un cambio en la distribución de los colores no significa nada. Ni siendo la mejor paleta del mundo le daría 5 estrellas de 5 por el plagio que hay detrás. Pero tampoco es el caso…
The palette has 8 shimmer and 10 matte shades. I love the variety of colors because I’m really into warm tones, especially oranges and burgundy kind of colors, but that’s something we shouldn’t be attributing to Bad Habit but Huda Beauty; they came up with the idea in the first place and a change in the distribution of colors doesn’t mean anything. Even if this was the best palette in the world, I wouldn’t give it 5 stars out of 5 because of the plagiarism behind it. It’s not the case anyways…
Textura | Texture
En su mayoría, la fórmula de estas sombras es muy cremosa. Aún así, las sombras Flirt, Lust y Heartbreak son bastante secas, y el resto de mates excepto Coy y Romance siguen el mismo camino, aunque no tanto. En cuanto a textura, me recuerdan mucho a la paleta Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette de Tarte Cosmetics, pero no se trabajan tan bien en cuanto a aplicación y además son mucho más polvorientas. Es una paleta que pierde muchísimos puntos con quienes prefieran comenzar por el rostro antes que los ojos (yo lo hago al contrario por esta misma razón; ojos primero, base y demás después).
Pigmentación| Pigmentation
Las sombras tienen una pigmentación muy buena, pero eso se debe a que también son muy polvorientas. Esto dificulta un poco difuminarlas, ya que se pierden entre ellas y son más difíciles de manejar. No suelo tener problemas con paletas así, pero con ésta sí los he tenido. Creo que no está hecha para gente con poca facilidad para las sombras. En cuanto a los tonos, como ya he dicho, me parece que hay una buena combinación de tonos cálidos y fríos, como también de neutros y más coloridos.
The shadows have great pigmentation, but that’s just because they’re also very dusty. This makes it a bit more difficult to blend them since some of them kind of get lost with the rest of the shades and are way more difficult to handle. I normally wouldn’t have problems with palettes like that, but with this one, I’ve had plenty. I think it’s not made for people who are not very skilled with shadows. As for the tones, as I said, it seems to me that there’s a good combination of warm and cold tones, as well as neutral and more colorful ones.

Ya lo comenté en Instagram: es bastante difícil trabajar con estas sombras. Me costó varios intentos conseguir la intensidad que quería, pero en el peor de los sentidos, ya que algunas de las sombras se sobreponían al resto por mucho cuidado que tuviera. Es un poco desastre. Estoy tratando de darle oportunidades porque no quiero descartarla antes de tiempo, pero no creo que sea una paleta que valga mucho la pena. En mi caso, tengo sombras individuales (sobre todo de Colourpop) o de otras paletas en tonos idénticos y que me van mucho mejor, así que antes de comprar esta paleta o la de Huda Beauty me aseguraría de no tener nada parecido, ya que son muy fáciles de duplicar y superar.
I already said it on Instagram: it is quite difficult to work with these shadows. It took several attempts for me to get the intensity that I wanted, but in the worst sense, since some of the shadows overlapped the rest no matter how careful I was. It’s was a little bit disastrous. I’m trying to give it more opportunities because I do not want to discard it before time, but I don’t think this palette is worth it. In my case, I have individual shades (especially Colourpop) or other palettes in identical tones and I’m much better, so before buying this palette or the Huda Beauty I would make sure not to have anything similar, as they are very easy to duplicate and overcome.

He probado la paleta original (la Rose Gold de Huda Beauty) en tiendas, y la imagen que me he llevado es la de una paleta más o menos igual de polvorienta y con una calidad no muy distinta que la de Bad Habit, a primera vista. Ninguna de las dos me ha convencido del todo, de hecho, que la primera no lo hiciera es la razón por la que quise probar la réplica. La calidad de las sombras no es del todo mala, pero definitivamente no es muy buena. Como ya he dicho, es la primera paleta que hace que odie lo polvorienta que es, y además, me parece que no es tan versátil como otras con el mismo número o menos de tonos por la falta de mates variados.
Para el precio, no está mal. Tampoco se puede pedir mucho más de una paleta tan relativamente grande por 10 euros. Lo que sí es verdad es que es bastante peor que la paleta Athena, que espero poder reseñar pronto porque me está gustando mucho. Las sombras shimmer no están mal y, para looks sencillos, la paleta en sí está bastante bien.
I have tried the original palette (the Rose Gold by Huda Beauty) in stores, and the image that I have taken is that of a palette more or less the same dusty and with a quality not very different from that of Bad Habit, at first glance. Neither one of them have fully convinced me, in fact, that the first one did not do it is the reason why I wanted to try the replica. The quality of the shadows is not that bad, but it isn’t good either. As I’ve said, it is the first palette that makes me hate how dusty it is, and I also think it’s not as versatile as other palettes with the same number or less of shades due to the lack of varied mattes.
For this price, I wouldn’t say it’s bad, considering the number of shadows in it. It is definitely worse than the Athena palette, which I hope to review soon because I’m enjoying it so much more. The shimmer shadows are not bad and, for simple looks, the palette itself is quite good.
